hello!! koi reporting from the train (it’s been a minute). i’m sitting across from the cutest couple, reading different magazines and laughing at each other’s pages. i’m weak to stuff like this. instant sentimentality activated.
today’s mini itinerary: pho (huge portion, i lost), bubble tea, and a mission to buy camera batteries. did i succeed? absolutely not. before heading out, i started watching ...ing; it’s nice so far, but not at all what i expected. movie review pending once i finish :P
accidental cult
i may have started an iu cult by accident. it began as a joke; my cousin changed his pfp to an iu apple selfie, i switched to a tangerine one, my younger sib joined with a strawberry, and my older sib… chose broccoli. honestly, i respect the energy.
a couple days ago, while my older sibs tried to revive a chair with a missing a screwdriver (rip), i fell into an iu mv spiral on the tv. i barely use my phone for music now; it’s all tv speakers and spotify loops while i game. this somehow earned me the title “uncle” at home. rude. i just like good sound.
while rewatching the red shoes (분홍신), my younger sib asked why the shoes were chasing her. i guessed “wizard of oz?” then they mentioned a story about cursed shoes that make you dance forever. perfect timing, because iu puts them on and can’t stop dancing. turns out it’s based on hans christian andersen’s fairy tale. dark, eerie, brilliant. iu really is a storyteller. modern times era was special.
okay, i’ll stop yapping now. rest up before new year’s day, everyone :]

OOOOOOOOO i love things that are based off of fairy tales. and in gen i really enjoy reading the darker / older versions of fairy tales. i understand why things have changed now, but to read them in their older forms really makes one think about the original intentions of the authors (whether that be the grimm brothers, andersen, or perrault). what do you prefer koi? :?

I DID get the pho yes!!! victory… but also defeat. the portion was massive and i fully tapped out halfway ㅠㅠ i tried my best ok… still very good tho, no regrets.
and yesss the uncle allegations were uncalled for!!! ㅠㅠ good music is timeless idc what device it comes out of. tv speakers just hit different.
oooh for fairy tales… i actually like both, but i def lean more toward the originals like u. there’s something about them that feels raw and honest, like they weren’t trying to soften the lesson. but i also really love watching modern retellings and then having my mum sit there like, “ok but the original was way darker” and explain it to me >:D it makes it way more fun somehow, like a behind-the-scenes commentary, if that makes sense.

right?? it really is the small, quiet moments that get me… i fold instantly. also yes LOL the pho defeat was real, my eyes were bigger than my stomach. leftovers are a blessing tho. OOOOH YOU'RE RIGHT!!! balanced diet fr.
AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED on the “uncle” allegations… so rude. good sound is good sound!!! tv speakers, bluetooth speakers, tin can and string, idc. we listen with intention in this house.
agreed!! dark fairytales really don’t play around either. but yeah, the idea of dancing forever is nightmare fuel… no breaks, no escape, just cardio until the end of time. absolutely not.
